Aid available for first-in-family college bound

Mercedes-Benz USA is calling on Oregon students to apply for some of the $500,000 in scholarship funds available to graduating seniors who will be the first in their families to attend college or vocational school.

Three students in every state will receive one-time $2,000 scholarships through this first-time program; also eligible are students affiliated with various youth organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Applicants will be evaluated on academic achievement, financial need, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities. Applications and detailed information about the `Drive Your Future' scholarship program are available by visiting www.mbusa.com/drivefuture. Applications must be submitted by Friday for fall scholarships.
