 OPHTHALMIC IMAGING SYSTEMS APPOINTS VP MARKETING
 AND SHIPS FIRST GLAUCOMA-SCOPE UNITS
 SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Ophthalmic Imaging Systems (NASDAQ: OISI) announced today that Christine N. Ritter has been appointed Vice President of Marketing and that investigational unit shipments of its new optic nerve head measurement device, the Glaucoma- Scope, have begun today.
 OIS completed its initial public offering May 14, 1992 through which they raised $4.83 million before offering expenses. OIS is using the proceeds from its public offering, in substantial part, to ramp up its Glaucoma-Scope production and distribution capabilities. The initial Glaucoma-Scope units will be used in clinical studies to validate the product's performance. Information from these studies will also be used to optimize the product's ergonomic design.
 The Glaucoma-Scope is a sensitive and accurate instrument for tracking optic nerve head change in the eye. The turn-key package uses a patent pending optical delivery system for imaging the retina. The system includes imaging hardware that captures and analyzes images of the optic nerve head and software that prints results in an easy to interpret Optc? Nerve Head Report(TM).
 Ms. Ritter joins OIS to assume responsibility for worldwide marketing of the company's digital angiography systems as well as the new Glaucoma-Scope. Prior to joining OIS, Ms. Ritter was president of Ritter Associates, a Davis, Calif., marketing consulting firm. Ms. Ritter has also served as Vice President of Marketing at Loredan Biomedical, a physical therapy equipment company, and as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Allergan Humphrey, a leader in the ophthalmic diagnostic equipment industry. Ms. Ritter's accomplishments include product specification, launch and marketing at Allergan Humphrey for the Humphrey Field Analyzer, which became the worldwide clinical standard and market leader in perimetric glaucoma detection and monitoring under her direction. Ms. Ritter holds a BA in biology from Stanford University, an MS in bioengineering from the University of California at San Diego, and an MBA from St. Mary's College in Moraga, Calif.
