ONYX Software Announces Wireless Integration With The PalmPilot Organizer.

ONYX Software Corporation (www.onyx.com), the global leader in customer management solutions for Microsoft(R) BackOffice(TM), today announced at DCI's Sales Force Automation Conference, that it is the first customer management vendor to support wireless access between an enterprise-wide customer management solution and the popular PalmPilot(TM) organizer.
The ONYX solution will allow mobile employees easy and fully-customizable wireless access to a company's ONYX Customer Center(TM) database from the PalmPilot, enabled with the Unwired Planet(TM) UP.Browser(TM) and the Novatel Wireless Minstrel(TM) Wireless IP Modem. From the field, sales and service personnel will be able to view the most up-to-date contacts, action items, sales opportunities, and support incidents.

This direct link between ONYX Customer Center and the PalmPilot builds on ONYX's existing commitment to mobile information access. Existing ONYX solutions enable the download of contacts to PalmPilot and Windows CE devices and wireless access to customer information from mobile phones enabled with UP.Browser. "ONYX's open architecture allows us to respond quickly as hardware improves, putting sales process automation solutions in our customer's hands and enhancing their access to the information they need, when they need it," said Brent Frei, ONYX president and CEO. "Adapting our software to fit widely accepted mobile tools like the PalmPilot as fast as the technology becomes available is another example of ONYX's focus on developing solutions sales people need today."
The ONYX wireless solution combines leading technology developed by Novatel Wireless and Unwired Planet. A PalmPilot equipped with the newly developed Novatel Wireless Minstrel modem gives users access to email and Web sites via Unwired Planet UP.Browser software. The modem uses cellular digital packet data (CDPD) technology, a wide-area data network that enables mobile access to email and Web sites coded with HDML (Handheld Device Markup Language). HDML is an industry standard, open markup language developed by Unwired Planet for wireless access to Web-based information from mass-market handheld devices such as mobile phones and PDAs.
