WE WROTE: Devastated retailers say they have nowhere to go after being given a week's notice to quit their Thornaby home. Businesses based in the inShops, in Thornaby town centre, have been hit with the bombshell news that the centre is shutting on Friday.

YOU SAID: Disgraceful. What a loss to Thornaby. Small retailers are usually local people offering a friendly local service to their customers at reasonable prices. They are now being tossed aside. We have lost a lot of local business when they regenerated the town centre and put up the prices. Now it just looks like every other town centre with all the same shops and no character. You are just driving people to shop on the internet and not in their local town centres.

Angela Peacock This is disgusting, how could the council let it happen? Sick of seeing small businesses at the mercy of private landlords.

Sam Robinson Hopefully, the shopkeepers can approach the owner of the building with a view to taking on the lease between them. It could actually work out cheaper than sub-letting from inShops.
