ONLINE COUNCIL FILM TO OUTLINE BOROUGH PLAN.
A FOUR-MINUTE film has been posted onto the internet to spotlight the Borough Plan for Nuneaton and Bedworth.
It has been produced by council staff at the Town Hall and is presented by a member of the customer services department. In a series of clips, shot at various locations, she explains how "preferred options" have been drawn up to earmark development over the next 15 years. The film says that 7,900 new homes will be needed in the borough and designates four "key areas" for them to be built - Weddington/St Nicolas, Arbury, Gipsy Lane and West Bedworth. Residents are being invited to have their say on the proposals, although much criticism has already been levelled at the Labour-controlled cabinet for earmarking more than half the new homes in two wards in the north of Nuneaton.
Over the next eight weeks, a public consultation takes place, with sessions being held throughout the borough when the plans will be on show.
Coun Danny Aldington, portfolio holder for planning and development, said: "We have no choice but to create a Borough Plan to accommodate the growing needs of the towns because if we don't we leave ourselves vulnerable to planning by appeal.
"The plan will have a huge impact on the lives of residents and business owners and this consultation is the chance for people to have their say."
The film can be viewed on the council's YouTube channel (NBBConline), and website (www.nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk) and DVDs are available from the Town Hall.
