FOUR minutes into the double bill debut of the latest glossy American drama, and we had Callista Flockhart's character meeting her wee brother and slagging him for being "really skinny...".

Thing is, if there were even a half ounce of ironic wit to this heavy-handed affair, I might have laughed at the pot calling the kettle a skelf.

Instead, I groaned.

Like The Waltons crossed with America's Next Top Model, this promised much, but delivered little more than flat characters, cringey lines and a soundtrack for Dawson's Creek fans who (nearly) grew up.

There were at least three 'I love you /I love you too' incidents within the first 10 minutes.

Family is nothing like this. Even when it's bad, it's better...
