ON THE BORDER INC. WEARS BLACK RIBBONS TO HONOR MIKE FIORI

DALLAS, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Employees at On The Border Cafes Inc. (NASDAQ: OTBC) began wearing black ribbons Monday to honor Mike Fiori, the company's president and chief executive officer, who died in a plane crash Saturday, the company said.
In addition, Monday, the company's chief financial officer, Ray Yoakum, issued a memorandum to the management team and staff to help them answer questions from customers and the public.
"Mike Fiori built an operation based on teamwork, commitment and professionalism," Yoakum said. "One of the important things he did was create a strong senior management foundation. I can assure the entire On The Border family that the company is committed to growth and we will continue to work hard together to build our company."
On The Border will open its first restaurant outside of Texas in Denver Tuesday. In addition, tomorrow the company will initiate a new radio advertising campaign. The ads will air in Houston and Dallas.
The conditions of all injured Saturday have been upgraded to serious, according to officials at the two Denver-area hospitals treating Steve Fenstermacher, Dee Lidvall and Julie Simpson. Funeral arrangements for Mike Fiori and for his son Bill, who also died in the accident, are still pending.
On The Border operates 10 company and four franchise restaurants located in Texas, Colorado and Tennessee. On The Border went public in April 1992 and is traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market under the symbol OTBC.
