MONDAY The Secret Life of Books: Cider with Rosie BBC4, 8pm A few weeks ago, the BBC broadcast an excellent adaptation of Laurie Lee's memoir and if watching that made you wonder about the real people depicted on screen, and about Lee himself, then you must tune into the latest edition of this series.

It turns the spotlight on the book as bestselling novelist Joanna Trollope, pictured, explores its origins.

Cider with Rosie is her favourite book and she concentrates largely on how Lee blended fact and fiction to create a bucolic view of rural life following the World War I.
