OMNI FILMS REPORTS RECORD SALES AND EARNINGS FOR SECOND QUARTER
SARASOTA, Fla., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Omni Films International, Inc., (NASDAQ: OFII) said today that record sales and earnings generated during its second quarter ended March 31, 1992, are a clear indicator that the company can expect continued improved performance.
The company reported sales for the 1992 second quarter of $3,350,324 and net earnings of $589,304 or 20 cents per share. In the comparable quarter a year ago, the company had sales of $1,078,773 and a loss of $60,609 or three cents per share.
For the six months ended March 31,1992, sales of $3,737,569 produced net earnings of $113,904 or four cents per share. For the 1991 six-month period, sales were $4,156,946 and net earnings were $269,816 or 12 cents per share.
Omni Films President Fred Hollingsworth III said, "The much- improved results for the second quarter are a solid indication that the effects of the Gulf War have faded away."
Hollingsworth said the quarter's good performance principally resulted from the delivery of four theater systems -- three Motion Master motion simulation theater systems and a 70mm 3D theater system. Customers for the motion simulation units were Mall of America, Bloomington, Minn.; a Ripley's Believe It or Not! theater in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Jordan's Furniture, a major retailer in Avon, Mass. The 70mm 3D theater equipment package went to Parco Della Standiana SRL of Brescia, Italy.
Hollingsworth said the order backlog excluding film licenses at March 31, 1992, was $3,180,000, and that sales are expected "to hold up well" during the remainder of the third quarter.
Omni Films International is a vertically integrated entertainment technology company specializing in the design, manufacture and sale of large-screen, three-dimensional and motion-simulation theater systems and the production and licensing of 70mm films for use in Omni Films theaters. The Company markets its theater systems to customers throughout the world.
