OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA DEBUTS WITH NEW SMARTLEASE PROGRAM
LANSING, Mich., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Oldsmobile today announced

that at introduction, the Achieva S model will be offered with a special GMAC SmartLease program which will make it an outstanding value in the competitive compact market.
With no money down, consumers can lease an Achieva S for just $199 a month for a 48-month lease. This special Achieva model will come with air conditioning, pulse wipers, 2.3-liter Quad OHC engine and 3-speed automatic transmission, anti-lock brakes, 14-inch polycast wheels, AM/FM stereo cassette with six-speaker dimensional sound, plus many other features.
Oldsmobile officials also announced that Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices for the Achieva line will range from $12,715 to $14,610. Prices for the top-of-the-line SCX performance model will be announced at a later date.
Following are specific prices for each model:
 Achieva S Coupe $12,715
 Achieva S Sedan $12,815
 Achieva SL Coupe $14,495
 Achieva SL Sedan $14,595
 Achieva SC $14,610
All Achievas include a number of standard features not found on many competitive models: anti-lock brakes, power door locks, child security rear door locks (sedan), rear seat ventilation ducts, remote deck lid and fuel filler door releases, cup holders and dual-vision vanity mirrors.
The standard engine for the Achieva S model is the all-new Quad OHC version of the much-acclaimed Quad 4. The Quad OHC generates an impressive 120 horsepower yet still returns 25 miles per gallon in the city and 35 on the highway when mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission. Achieva SL models will come standard with the proven 160- horsepower Quad 4. The Achieva SC is powered by a High Output Quad 4 generating 180 horsepower with a 5-speed manual, while the SCX will come standard with a 190-horsepower Quad 4 and 5-speed manual.
"We think that with the high level of standard equipment on all Achieva models, it will clearly appeal to the value-conscious import buyer," said Oldsmobile General Manager Mike Losh.
When Achieva debuts early next year, it will be supported by an advertising positioning statement which communicates the Achieva's intelligent engineering in its design and performance: "Never has so much thought been put into so much fun."
"The Achieva advertising will capture the image of 'The Power of Intelligent Engineering,'" said Oldsmobile's General Marketing Manager Michael Grimaldi. "This positioning statement directs the car to young import intenders looking for a dependable, fun-to-drive, well-thought- out compact car."
Public launch of the new Achieva is scheduled for Feb. 6, 1992.
