OLD DETROIT ALE LINE ADDS PACKAGES

FRANKENMUTH, Mich., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- A 5-liter (1.3 gallons) can and a 22-ounce bottle package has been added to the Old Detroit Amber Ale line produced by Frankenmuth Brewery in Frankenmuth. The 5-liter can is the second of its kind produced by Frankenmuth. The can is produced in Germany and filled in Frankenmuth. A 22-ounce bottle was also added to the Old Detroit package mix because of the increasing popularity of 22-ounce bottles.
The Old Detroit brand, first introduced in January of 1990, is increasing in popularity. During the past six months, its area of distribution has been expanded to five additional states, which include New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
"Since packaging is such a key ingredient in marketing micro brewed beer, we decided to add the 5-liter and 22-ounce packages which are extremely important in the development of this brand," said Fred Schumacher, the company's chief operating officer.
Randy Heine, Frankenmuth Brewery's owner and president, felt that adding additional packages to the Old Detroit brand was especially pertinent with the company's broadening of its marketing territory. "Consumers in our new marketing areas on the East Coast, West Coast and in between will have a choice of three convenient package sizes," said Heine.
The new 5-liter and 22-ounce packages should be in most retail stores in the coming six weeks.
