OIS AWARDED CONTRACT TO SUPPLY AIR FORCE F-22 DISPLAYS

OIS AWARDED CONTRACT TO SUPPLY AIR FORCE F-22 DISPLAYS
TROY, Mich., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- OIS Optical Imaging Systems,

Inc. ("OIS") (OTC: OVON) announced today that it has selected to develop and deliver active matrix liquid crystal displays ("AMLCDs") for the United States Air Force F-22 Advanced Tactical Fighter Program in an award worth $10,250,000. OIS will develop and deliver the color AMLCDs over a three-year development and prototype program.
The F-22 is a highly advanced low-observable tactical fighter aircraft that will be the USAF front line defense aircraft in the next century. The F-22 is being developed by a team of companies headed by Lockheed Aeronautical Systems, and including Lockheed Sanders, Inc., OIS, Kaiser Electronics and others.
Rex Tapp, OIS president, stated, "This is the most significant single contract ever awarded to OIS. The fact that OIS was selected to provide displays for the world's most advanced fighter aircraft demonstrates the avionics industry's overwhelming confidence in OIS as a manufacturer of technically superior displays."
OIS, founded in 1984, is an affiliate of Guardian Industries Corp. ("Guardian"), a Northville, Mich.-based global manufacturer of flat glass and glass products. OIS became an affiliate of Guardian following Guardian's investment, in November 1991, of $10.5 million in OIS. Guardian's investment in OIS is a reflection of its belief that the OIS flat panel technology has great potential in the military, avionic and automotive fields.
OIS develops and manufactures flat panel display using active matrix liquid crystal technology. OIS is the only AMLCD manufacturer in the United States in active production. OIS' principal customers purchase for the severe environments of military and avionic applications.
