OHIO VEGETABLE GROWERS NAME BUURMA PRESIDENT

 COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce Buurma of Willard was elected president of the Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Associations (OVPGA) at the recent Ohio Fruit & Vegetables Growers Congress.
 Buurma represents the fourth generation of Buurmas producing muck crops in the Willard, Ohio area. Bruce is vice president in charge of production for the 1,800 acre family owned corporation which employs over 400 full time and seasonal workers. Buurma Farms produces and packs 25 different crops including radishes, celery, carrots, seven varieties of lettuce and five varieties of greens. Their produce is marketed throughout the Eastern U.S. under the "Holland Brand" label.
 Buurma has served as Vice President of the OVPGA and on many industry committees.

 The Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association is a statewide


organization of over 500 commercial vegetable growers. The organization is dedicated to improving the industry through research and education and works very closely with the OSU Department of Horticulture, the Ohio Cooperative Extension Service and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center.
