OHIO POWER TO REDEEM BONDS

 CANTON, Ohio, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ohio Power Company today announced that it will redeem on Sept. 1, 1993 the entire outstanding $80,000,000 principal amount of its First Mortgage Bonds, 9 percent Series due 1994. The bonds will be redeemed at 100.45 percent of the principal amount of the bonds together with accrued interest to the date of redemption, to be paid upon presentment.
 The notice of redemption is expected to be mailed to holders of record on or before July 30, 1993.
 This redemption is in accordance with the terms of the mortgage under which the bonds were issued. The mortgage permits the company to redeem the bonds prior to maturity.
 Chemical Bank, New York, is the redemption agent and trustee.
