OHIO HI-TECH FIRM EXTENDS MARKET RANGE THROUGH FOUR COMPANY MERGER
MENTOR, Ohio, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ABL Engineering Inc., a leading producer of video and audio products and services for multimedia networks, is merging with three other firms to create an important new international company, ABL Communications Inc.
"It's a perfect match," says Steffen Rasmussen, ABL Engineering president. "Each of the four participants is a leader in its specialized technology, and each company's products and services complement those of the other three."
"By coming together under one corporate roof, we can offer our clients the full range of multimedia network products and services. At the same time, we will be able to bring a superior and comprehensive expertise to bear in meeting the needs of our clients in the expanding international market."
The other three participants are Canadian corporations:
Waterland Holdings Inc, Toronto, multimedia marketing and development; Nexfotel Corporation, Montreal, optical access products and network development; and Dataspec Corp., Quebec City, data communications marketing.
The ABL Communications product line includes access equipment for video, audio and data, powerful switching and network management systems.
"Our products and services make top quality, simultaneous video communication and data transmission possible between different locations," Rasmussen says. "The company already has sizable network installations in Europe and the United States and was actively involved in the new video and data network used in Spain for the '92 Olympics."
"We look to distance learning, technical training and video conferencing as key areas for the application of our multimedia products and services," Rasmussen says.
ABL Communications is working with broadcasters, cable TV operators, telephone and private networks to provide local access network solutions. New multimedia services are being developed in conjunction with application developers and users.
"Our customers are looking for quality video," Rasmussen says, "that can be incorporated into current and new network applications. We have the key products to make this cost effective and are actively seeking network partners to interconnect our multimedia users."
Corporate head office of the new company is in Montreal. The chief executive officer is Walter Steel, the founding president of AES Data, pioneers in word processing whose products were distributed in the United States by Lanier. He was subsequently founding president of Cantel, Canada's largest cellular telephone company. ABL has subsidiary facilities in the United States and in Europe, as well as a world-wide distribution network.
The new company will demonstrate its advanced technology and capabilities on Stand 1014 at Telecon XII in San Jose, Calif., Oct. 26-28. Telecon is the world's largest conference and trade show for video conferencing, business television, videophones and distance learning.
