OFTEL to report on telecomms deregulation.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-(C) 1994-9 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD OFTEL, the British telecomms watchdog, is about to release its report on deregulations in the telecommunications industry.

Talk of deregulation in the industry has sparked debate about the 'Local Loop Unbundling' concept, which means that telecomms operators could access BT-owned copper networks to offer new high-capacity services to UK businesses and homes.

Companies like Norweb Telecom, which would like access to these networks, say that OFTEL has the power to deregulate the market and believes the decision should be made sooner rather than later and wants OFTEL to start acting on the results of its consultative paper entitled 'Access to bandwidth.'
