OFFSHORE PIPELINES ANNOUNCES AWARD OF A MAJOR PROJECT IN MALAYSIA

 HOUSTON, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Offshore Pipelines, Inc. ("OPI") (NYSE: OFP) today announced that TL Offshore Sdn. Bhd., its joint venture company in Malaysia with Renong Berhad, has been awarded a contract by Sarawak Shell Berhad for the construction and installation of the MLNG-DUA pipelines offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. With this project, OPI's total backlog for committed work stands at approximately $330 million, its highest level ever, of which approximately $150 is to be performed by joint venture companies.
 The project consists of the transportation and installation of 255 miles of offshore pipelines ranging from 24 inches to 36 inches in diameter, and includes the pipeline burial and shore approach to the MLNG-DUA onshore facilities. The work will commence during OPI's fiscal 1994 third quarter.
 Frank C. Wade, chairman and chief executive officer commented, "This is the largest project our company has ever been awarded and shows OPI's growing experience and recognition in the international market. We are also very excited about other large projects coming up for bid, especially in Southeast Asia, India and West Africa."
