 OFFSHORE PIPELINES, INC. ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF VICE CHAIRMAN
 AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER AND DIRECTOR
 HOUSTON, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Frank C. Wade, chairman and chief executive officer of Offshore Pipelines, Inc. (OPI) (NYSE: OFP) today announced the appointment of Mike H. Lam as vice chairman and chief operating officer. Richard R. Foreman, OPI's president and a member of OPI's board will also assume the title and responsibilities as OPI's chief financial officer.
 In announcing the appointment of Mike Lam, Wade stated, "We believe that our continuing growth will be best served by allowing our senior executive management to focus their energies in their areas of expertise to maximize the benefit of their strengths and abilities.
 Lam, 46, has served as executive vice president-worldwide operations since 1990 after a 20 year career in which he served in various management capabilities for McDermott International, Inc.
 OPI also announced that Sydney J. Anderson has been appointed to its board of directors. Anderson, retired after a long and distinguished career with Chevron Corporation and Gulf Oil Corporation in various management capacities both in the United States and overseas. Anderson's experience includes serving as president and general manager of Cabinda Gulf Oil Company in Angola, vice president-international of Gulf Oil Exploration and Production Company and most recently as vice president-production for Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc. in San Francisco. Anderson was appointed by the Board to fill the remaining term of Randal B. McDonald following his death in September 1992.
 Wade commented, "We are very pleased and fortunate to have Syd Anderson join our board. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the international energy industry. We look forward to his involvement and counsel as OPI continues to expand its worldwide presence."
 OPI operates one of the largest marine construction fleets in the world, capable of handling a full range of large-capacity and deep-water construction projects worldwide. The company is an industry leader in laying marine pipelines; installing, salvaging, and refurbishing offshore platforms; fabricating offshore platforms and their components; and providing diving services.
