OFFICIAL AIRLINE GUIDES REPORTS JULY AIRPORT FLIGHT ACTIVITY AT SEVERAL AIRPORTS WORLDWIDE

 OAK BROOK, Ill., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Official Airline Guides, the world's largest provider of scheduled flights information, gave a preview of daily departing flight activity for July at several airports worldwide. The numbers released indicate that flight activity continues to rise in airports in the U.S. and Asia/Pacific regions and is mixed in Europe.
 In the midst of the summer peak travel season, seven of the eight airports surveyed in the Asia/Pacific region showed an increase in flight activity in July. Beijing logged the largest departure increase in the region with an increase of 41 flights a day (from 72 to 113). Hong Kong also showed increased departures (139 to 157), as did Seoul (190 to 226), Singapore (166 to 178), Tokyo's Haneda (306 to 321) and Taipei's two airports, Chiang Kai Shek (80 to 91) and Sung Shan (100 to 120). Tokyo's Narita airport, however, showed a slight decline, falling from 160 to 159 average daily flights.
 Airports in the U.S. overall reported increased daily flight activity in July with only two New York airports showing a decline. Chicago's O'Hare (1,179 to 1,206), Los Angeles (915 to 976), Newark (565 to 608) and Westchester (66 to 71) all reported increases, while New York's Kennedy airport fell from 502 to 487 and LaGuardia fell from 465 to 463 average daily flights.
 In July 1993, there was mixed activiity in Europe with four airports reporting increases and four airports showing a decline in average daily flights compared with July 1992. London's Gatwick Airport reported the largest decrease from 208 to 183. Heathrow (612 to 589) and Paris' DeGaulle (589 to 582) and Orly (560 to 554) also showed decreases. The rest of the European airport surveyed showed increases including: Madrid from 248 to 268, Amsterdam from 314 to 405, Frankfurt from 468 to 513 and Stansted from 50 to 68.
 OAG tracks daily departing direct flights and the number of seats offered for 23 airports in 17 cities around the world. A listing of sampled airports follows:
