ODETICS SHARES NOW TRADING ON NASDAQ-NMS

ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Odetics Inc. (NASDAQ: ODETA, ODETB) Class A and Class B common shares began trading on the NASDAQ National Market System today. The company's trading symbols are ODETA and ODETB. Odetics moved to the NASDAQ-NMS from the American Stock Exchange, where its Class A and Class B common shares were listed as OA and OB, respectively.
According to Joel Slutzky, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Odetics, the company believes that the NASDAQ system of competing market makers will result in increased visibility and sponsorship of the company's common stock and will offer shareholders greater liquidity than provided by the American Stock Exchange.
Odetics has approximately 4,505,000 Class A and 1,209,000 Class B shares outstanding. The company reported sales of $69,312,000 for its fiscal year ended March 31, 1993.
Odetics designs and manufactures systems that automate the storage, distribution, and management of information. The company's products include automated tape libraries for both the computer and television industries, specialized video and digital data recorders, and equipment for compressed video transmission over ordinary telephone lines.
