ODETICS CONFIRMS REPORTS OF AGREEMENT WITH STORAGETEK SUBSIDIARY

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Odetics (AMEX: O.A, O.B) officials today confirmed reports that the company will supply ACL5480 automated tape library subsystems under a multiyear agreement with XL/Datacomp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Storage Technology Corp. (NYSE: STK).
The ACL5480 automates the storage and use of 3480 tape cartridges. An entry-level ACL5480 configuration accommodates two tape drives and 288 tape cartridges. As on-line data storage requirements increase, users can add expansion units to increase the size of the library.
The ACL5480 is sold to systems integrators, value-added resellers and OEMs. Typical end-user applications include unattended back-up, archiving and heirarchical storage and data management.
Odetics was founded in 1969. The company has five major operating divisions that address both commercial and government information storage and automation needs.
