 OCTEL FOUNDER JOINS GLOBAL VILLAGE BOARD

Communication Inc. announced today that Robert Cohn, 43, co-founder and chairman of the board of Octel Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: OCTL), has joined its board of directors. Octel Communications, headquartered in Milpitas, Calif., is the leader in voice information processing for Fortune 1000 companies worldwide, achieving $160 million in revenue in fiscal year ending June 1991.
 Cohn has served as Octel's president, CEO and director from its inception in 1982. Prior to co-founding Octel, Cohn held a variety of management positions with Acurex Corp. and McKinsey & Co., as well as positions in commercial and investment banking, including work for Division des Affaires of Banque Rothschild in Paris. Cohn holds a B.S. in mathematics and computer science from the University of Florida, and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Canadian by birth, Cohn is bilingual in French and English.
