OCG TECHNOLOGY, INC. LICENSES COMPUMED, INC. TO USE OCGT'S CARDIOINTEGRAPH FOR EARLY DETECTION OF HEART DISEASE

NEW YORK, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- OCG Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCGT) and CompuMed, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMPD) announced today that they have entered into an agreement under which OCGT will license OCGT's patented Cardiointegraph technology (CIG) to CMPD for use with CMPD's electrocardiography (ECG) interpretation software programs presently serving approximately 2,000 customers nationwide, processing in excess of 250,000 ECG's per year.
OCGT and CMPD have finalized the engineering necessary to add OCGT's software to CMPD's central computer system. After installation, CMPD will offer the CIG as an additional service for CMPD's customers on a fee per use basis.
OCGT developed the CIG which incorporates advanced technology to provide expanded diagnostic analysis of standard ECG signals to detect coronary artery disease at an early stage. The technique enables detection of coronary artery disease even if the electrocardiogram appears normal. According to the American Heart Association, one-fourth of all Americans have some form of cardiovascular disease. As a fee per use product, the CIG could be a low-cost screening test to detect problems not evident in standard ECGs. The emerging market for managed care puts a high premium on reducing costs of specialized tests.
Robert Stuckelman, CMPD's president and CEO, stated that "The combination of sales of the CIG to our existing customers and the potential for adding new ECG customers by CMPD and OCGT could result in increased revenues for both companies."
In addition to the patented CIG, OCGT has completed development of other proprietary cardio-diagnostic devices and markets turnkey financial systems to providers of medical services through a wholly owned subsidiary which developed and owns a medical accounts receivable software program.
CMPD provides a line of fully-automated, solid state microprocessor terminals, which access the company's computers and software to provide medical users with ECGs and on-line computer interpretations. The company operates one of the largest computerized telecommunications networks in the country for processing ECGs on a real-time basis. Through its OsteoSystems division, CMPD also markets the OsteoGram, a test using standard x-ray equipment to measure bone mineral density as an indicator of osteoporosis.
