 OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY SEMINAR FOR SMALL CONSTRUCTION FIRMS SCHEDULED
 NEW YORK, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Occupational safety will be the focus of a free seminar for small construction firms on Thursday, May 14 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Essex County College located in Newark.
 The seminar, sponsored by "Managing Growth," will provide information on the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and its standards, general work safety and health provisions, materials handling, storage and disposal, and a wide range of safety inspection procedures.
 The three-hour seminar will be taught by Ron Lattanzio, vice president of Inspeco, a New York-based engineering and inspection firm with expertise in OSHA safety and protection procedures.
 Managing Growth is an intensive training program developed by the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors to assist small, experienced contractors in competing more effectively for public works contracts in the New York and New Jersey region.
 Since 1989, Managing Growth classes have been conducted by the nation's leading construction managers to offer experienced small, minority and women-owned contractors an opportunity to learn how to expand their growth potential and compete more effectively for government contracts through the enhancement of their business skills.
 The Regional Alliance for Small Contractors currently has more than 500 participating firms. Fifteen public agencies in New York and New Jersey, to include the Port Authority, and 22 private construction- related firms also make up the organizations.
