OBJECT WORLD EAST '96 TO HOLD 3RD ANNUAL BEST NEW OBJECT TECHNOLOGY PRODUCT AWARDS COMPETITION

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Object World Corporation is pleased to announce that 16 exhibiting companies have entered 19 new products into the Best New OT Product Awards Competition to be held at Object World East, scheduled for May 5-9, 1996, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

Sponsored by Sentry Publishing, the Best New OT Product Awards Competition recognizes new products, product enhancements and/or upgrades which utilize object technology and distributed computing. To qualify, companies must have a new product, product enhancement or product upgrade that has been introduced by January 1, 1996, or that will be announced by the last day of the show. The product entries must also have a shipping date of no more than 90 days following the last day of Object World East, May 9, 1996.

This year's Industry Judges Panel is comprised of Adrian Bowles of Atelier Research, Steve McClure of IDC, Richard Soley of OMG, Melinda- Carol Ballou of the MetaGroup, and Paul Harmon of Object-Oriented Strategies Newsletter.

The following exhibiting companies have submitted entries for their new products:

The industry judges will select one winner from each of the following categories:

Best New CORBA-Based Product including CORBA-specific implementations or tools

Best New OT Development Product including language implementations, databases, environments, frameworks or tools

Best New OT Component or Library including class libraries, OT-based GUI libraries or vertical application components

The industry judges will evaluate each product on the following criteria: innovation, industry contribution and widespread applicability, robustness/percentage of OT, support for standards where applicable, and perceived price/value of OT in the product. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation hosted by David Brousell, VP and Editorial Director, Sentry Publishing, on Wednesday, May 8, at 4:45 p.m. in Hall D of the Hynes Convention Center.

The fourth annual Object World East will feature 90 exhibitors and will attract over 5,000 business and technical professionals. Daily keynotes, a live Distributed Applications Showcase, book signings, exhibitor seminars and user group meetings will also be featured.

Object World East is part of the largest all-OT series in the world. Object World West is scheduled for August 18-22, 1996, in San Jose, CA. Object World's international dates are set for London, June 18-21; Sydney, August 27-30; Tokyo, October 2-4; and Frankfurt, October 9-11.
