SPRINGFIELD - The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at at Buell Funeral Chapel for Ellen Francis Bresler of Springfield, formerly of North Bend and Bandon, who died Sept. 30 of age-related causes. She was 89.

She was born April 7, 1920, in Bendavis, Mo., to Marion and Hattie Volner McCall. She married Byron Bresler on April 2, 1939, in Bendavis. He died in 1984.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Jim of Dexter and John of Colorado; a sister, Orrilla Skaggs, of Cabool, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Ocean View Memorial Gardens in Coos Bay.

Eleanor Burns

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Springfield for Eleanor May Burns of Springfield, who died Oct. 1 of age-related causes. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Orlando, Fla., to William and Myrtle Loomis Reynolds. She married Dean Timothy Burns on Aug. 27, 1955, in Erie, Pa.

She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Burns and Linda Vreeland; and two grandsons. Her husband and a son, James, died previously.

Mary Jennings

SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Ebbert Memorial United Methodist Church for Mary C. Jennings of Springfield, who died Oct. 1 of cancer. She was 82.

She was born March 12, 1927, in Boyd, Okla., to Carl and Nelli Trimmell Ennis. She married Thomas Jennings on Sept. 24, 1948, in Eugene.

She started Jennings Day Care in 1958 and was known by many children as Mrs. Jennings.

She also attended Lane Community College.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Downen of Springfield; two sons, Tom of Burns and Roy of Marcola; a sister, Virginia Geil of Bloomington, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband and a daughter, Joann Miotke, died previously.
