Nina Reed

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1155 President St., in Eugene for Nina Amelia Reed of Eugene, who died Aug. 19 of age-related causes. She was 86.

She was born May 16, 1920, in Weiser, Idaho, to Earnst and Lillie Johnson Houston. She married Claude Reed on Aug. 7, 1936, in Walla Walla, Wash. He died July 5, 1983.

Survivors include three daughters, Judi Fox of Marcola, Pat O'Neil of Hermiston and Peggy Reed; three sons, Robert "Bob" of Eugene, Rick of Lorane and Randy of Coburg; a sister, Dorothy Brown of Coos Bay; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two sons, Micky Reed and Raymond Reed, died previously.

Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by England's Eugene Memorial Chapel.

Gene Rose

SCOTTSBURG - A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Scottsburg Cemetery for Gene L. Rose of Scottsburg, who died Aug. 19 of age-related causes. He was 77.

He was born May 20, 1929, in Baker to Sylvester and Myrtle Lawrence Rose. He married Mary Stebbins on Jan. 19, 1957, in Payette, Idaho. He worked as a log truck driver and served on the Scottsburg Fire Department for 26 years.

Survivors include three sons, Michael of Elkton, Steven and Dennis, both of Scottsburg; two daughters, Debra Anderson and Theresa Stauffer, both of Scottsburg; and 11 grandchildren.

Arrangements by Dunes Memorial Chapel in Reedsport. Remembrances to the Scottsburg Fire Department.

Richard Leake

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3965 in Springfield for Richard F. "Rick" Leake of Springfield, who died Aug. 16 of complications of surgery at age 77. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

He was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Dupree, S.D., to George and Margaret Duselle Leake. He married Lillie Cox on Oct. 5, 1957, in Stevenson, Wash. She died May 15, 2002.

Leake served in the Army from 1946 to 1947. He had worked in heavy construction and was a millwright.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Myers of Springfield; a son, Douglas Brownlee of Georgetown, Calif.; a sister, Arlene Obara of Eugene; two brothers, Clyde of Eugene and Robert of Portland; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren A granddaughter, Lillie Myers, died previously.

Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Remembrances to VFW Post 3965 in Springfield.
