Duane Bergman

The funeral will be Feb. 8 for Duane John Bergman of Eugene, who died Feb. 5 at age 67. The family chose not to list the cause of death.

Bergman was born June 20, 1937, in Port Gamble, Wash., to Roy and Ellen Bergman. He married Linda R. Stults in 1963. They later divorced.

He lived in Oakridge and the Alaska communities of Kodiak and Prudhoe Bay.

Bergman served in the U.S. Army and was employed in the heavy construction industry.

He enjoyed animals, hunting, fishing, rodeo and stock car racing.

Survivors include a son, Dennis of Eugene; a daughter, Cassandra Hawthorne of Sparks, Nev.; a brother, Dennis of Springfield; a sister, Beverly Stephens; and three grandchildren.

Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Oakridge Chapel of the Woods Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forestvale Memorial Park in Oakridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

Rebecca Thies

COQUILLE - The funeral will be Feb. 10 for Rebecca Ann Thies of Coquille, who died Feb. 3 of complications of diabetes. She was 48.

She was born May 11, 1956, in Cottage Grove to William and Diane Morelock Duncan. She married James Thies in Yoncalla on June 9, 1984.

Thies graduated from Drain High School and lived in Yoncalla or Drain most of her life. She worked as a senior and disabled care- giver.

She enjoyed caring for her family, and holidays and gatherings. She was a member of Drain Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; her father; her stepmother, Marilyn Duncan; two sons, Eric Duncan of Drain and Jason Cox of Coquille; two sisters, Debra Finn and Rona Graham, both of Yoncalla; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Drain Methodist Church. Thursday's funeral will be at 1 p.m., also at the church. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Jan Simpson

The funeral will be Feb. 10 for Jan Simpson of Eugene, who died Feb. 5 of cancer. She was 67.

Simpson was born May 5, 1937, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Donald and Doris Spurgeon George. She married Earl Simpson in Drain on June 25, 1955.

She lived in Drain for 40 years and in Cottage Grove and Eugene for nine years.

Simpson worked as a payroll clerk for more than 25 years at Kwikee Manufacturing in Cottage Grove.

She enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with family members. She attended the Church of Christ in Drain for many years and recently the Veneta Alliance Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary of Elmira; a daughter, Stacia Stone of Springfield; and 13 grandchildren and one grandchild. A son, Randy, died previously.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Thursday's funeral will be at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2350 Oakmont Way, Suite 200, Eugene, OR 97401.
