Doyle Mitchell

COTTAGE GROVE - A memorial service will be held Nov. 16 for Doyle L. Mitchell of Cottage Grove, who died Nov. 12 at age 71. The family chose not to list a cause of death.

Mitchell was born May 23, 1933, in White River, S.D., to Leroy and Faye Schmidt Mitchell. He lived in Caldwell, Idaho, and graduated from Caldwell High School. He also lived in Boise, Hermiston and Eugene. He lived in Lane County for 49 years.

Mitchell served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was employed as a truck driver.

He and his wife, Shirley, were married in 1994.

His interests included spending time with family, church, camping, hunting, bowling and reading his Guideposts magazine. He was a member of Berean Assembly of God in Springfield.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Joe Gunther of Spokane and David Mitchell and Scott Kelty, both of Eugene; two daughters, Dana Stalcup of Eugene and Terri Debysingh of Cottage Grove; two brothers, Jim of Redmond and Alvin; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A son, Charles, died previously.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Chapel of Memories is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lane County or Berean Assembly of God in Springfield.

Dahyabhai Patel

The funeral is today for Dahyabhai K. Patel of Eugene, who died Nov. 13 of respiratory failure. He was 73.

He was born April 1, 1931, in Vanisa, India, to Kuvarjibhai and Ratanben Patel Patel. He and his wife, Mangiben, were married in India in the 1950s.

He worked as a farmer.

Patel is survived by his wife; a son, Kishor of Eugene; two daughters, Manjuben Prafulbhai Patel of California and Miraben Rajubhai Patel of India; and seven grandchildren.

Today's funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene, with cremation to immediately follow the service.
