Mildred Anderson

CRESWELL - A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Creswell Presbyterian Church for Mildred K. Anderson of Creswell, who died Oct. 27 of age-related causes. She was 96.

She was born March 28, 1915, in Ambrose, N.D., to Knute and Mabel Thompson Ouse. She married Raymond Anderson on Oct. 6, 1940, in Toledo, Ore. He died March 28, 1991.

She graduated from high school and attended one year of college. She worked as a court reporter and bookkeeper.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond of Canon City, Colo., and Ronald of Eugene; a brother, George Ouse of Williston, N.D.; a sister, Jolynne Dahl of Fortuna, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Boeger

Elizabeth "Betty" Boeger of Eugene died Oct. 24 of cancer. She was 89. A private family service is planned.

She was born July 19, 1922. She married Robert Boeger on Aug. 1, 1950, in Anchorage. He died in November 2000.

She graduated from high school and nursing school. She served as a registered nurse during World War II as a first lieutenant. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Dennis of Eugene; a daughter, Vanessa of Aloha; a brother, Paul Chryst of Pottstown, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

Burial was at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene.

Joseph Cook

Joseph Olonna Cook of Eugene died Oct. 11 at age 40. The family chose not to list the cause of death. A private memorial service is planned.

He was born May 23, 1971, in Comox, B.C., to August and Theresa Kannuk Cook.

He graduated from Roseburg High School in 1989. He worked as head chef at the Lucky Noodle for 13 years.

Survivors include his mother, now of Cottage Grove; two sisters, Melissa Smith of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Naomi Hopper of Cottage Grove; and two brothers, Malachi Hopper of Cottage Grove and Timothy Hopper of Kenai, Alaska.

Anne Dumbleton

Anne Hatheway Dumbleton of Eugene died Oct. 30 of age-related causes. She was 88. A celebration of life is planned for later.

She was born July 5, 1923, in Greenwich, Conn., to Prentiss and Laura Sutherland Hatheway.

She married Charles Dumbleton on Feb. 19, 1944. He died May 8, 1976.

She attended the University of Alabama for about two years. She worked as a musician, potter, artist and caregiver.

Survivors include three sons, Christopher of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Paul of Eugene and Peter of Cottage Grove; three daughters, Elle Hatheway and Barbara Dumbleton, both of Eugene, and Ora Hathe way of Mill Valley, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

John Dunbar

John C. Dunbar of Eugene died Oct. 30 of age-related causes. He was 89. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Winfield, Kan., to Jesse and Dessie Cates Dunbar. He married Donna Wright on Sept. 27, 1942, in Mulvane, Kan. She died Dec. 19, 2005.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941. He served with the Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1945, stationed in the South Pacific. He worked for Pierce Freight Lines, later becoming Dunbar's RV Connections. He and his wife owned and operated that business until their retirement in 1985.

Robert James

SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Eagles Aerie in Eugene for Robert Allen James of Springfield, who died Oct. 19 of cancer. He was 74.

He was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Springfield to John and Mary Brood James. He married Betty Johnson on April 25, 1964, in Reno, Nev.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1954. He worked as a general contractor and carpenter in residential construction.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie James of Sacramento and Bambi Lee of Springfield; two sons, Robert James and Perry "Scott" Cramblit, both of Springfield; two sisters, Vicki Cloer of Eugene and Linda White of Waldport; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Kelly Lynn James, died previously.

Eleanor McCaffrey

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene for Eleanor Carrie McCaffrey of Eugene, who died Nov. 3 of age-related causes. She was 98.

She was born July 17, 1913, in Crary, N.D., to Herman and Lucille Bachman Becker. She married James McCaffrey on Sept. 22, 1945, in Devils Lake, N.D. He died in 1974.

She graduated from Crary High School in North Dakota. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Eagan and Karen Johnson, both of Eugene; a sister, Edna Hoffmeyer of Selma, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Hazel Parker

HARRISBURG - A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 15 the First Baptist Church for Hazel Lavina Bailey Parker of Harrisburg, who died Oct. 27 after a heart attack. She was 91.

She was born July 14, 1920, in Easton, Md., to Harry and Goldie Knotts Bailey. She married Guy Parker on Sept. 26, 1942, in Joplin, Mo. He died July 3, 2000.

She graduated from high school and trained as a beautician. She worked as a beautician in New York for 35 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Sullivan of Tucson, Ariz., Susan Cade of Harrisburg and Patricia Stasionis of New Port Richey, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Bailey of Milton, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the care fund for needy families or missions at First Baptist Church in Eugene.

Nancy St. John

REEDSPORT - Nancy Lou Ballard St. John of Reedsport died Oct. 25 of respiratory failure. She was 48. A memorial service is planned for May 2012 in Reedsport.

She was born Sept. 20, 1963, in Cottage Grove to Donald and Edna Putman Ballard. She married Richard St. John on July 4, 1999, in Reedsport. He died Nov. 13, 2007.

She held a certified nursing assistant certificate. She worked as a CNA at Creswell Care Center and, most recently, at Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport.

Survivors include two sisters, Doris Hicks of Creswell and Connie Ray of Smyrna, Tenn.; and a brother, a Jay Ballard of Rancho Cordova, Calif.

Jeanine Shaffer

Jeanine M. Shaffer of Eugene died Oct. 27 of a lung ailment. She was 73. A graveside service is planned in Sutter, Calif.

She was born March 19, 1938, in Rhode Island.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gordon Shaffer; a daughter, Sally of Eugene; a son, Andrew of Yuba City, Calif.; and three grandchildren. A daughter, Christiane, died previously.

Faye Wetzell

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Eagles Lodge in Springfield for Faye Virginia "Auntie Faye" Moore Wetzell of Springfield, who died Oct. 25 of age-related causes. She was 94.

She was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Bend to Autis and Emaline Mead Moore. She married Glenn Wetzell on Dec. 23, 1938, in Washington. They divorced in 1969.

She worked in housekeeping at the University of Oregon and retired in 1987.

Survivors include two children, Sheila Eilbeck of Bend and Darrene Davis of Seal Rock; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Private burial will be at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend. Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances to Meals on Wheels.
