Satisfied with preparation for President's visit after meeting intel officials and cops

TO ENSURE fool- proof security of US President Barack Obama, who would be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade this year, " 25 United States Secret Service agents" have arrived in the national Capital and are currently staying in The Maurya Sheraton Hotel. Ahead of Obama's arrival, these agents held a meeting with the officials of the Indian intelligence agencies and Delhi Police, and discussed the security plans. The meeting was held on Monday evening in the basement of the hotel for about one and a half hour.

A senior officer of Delhi Police Security Wing told M AIL T ODAY the US secret agents arrived in India last Friday, and are currently staying in the Maurya Sheraton Hotel. " Ahead of the US President's scheduled visit, an " advance security liaisoning meeting" was held in the basement of the hotel where the senior officials of intelligence agencies and officials from Security Wing of Delhi Police, Additional Commissioner of Police SBS Tyagi and Additional DCP Amit Roy were present," the officer said. Delhi Police officials presented their security arrangements before the US secret agents and asked them to share their security plans as well.

The US secret service agents were satisfied with the arrangements of Delhi Police. However, the Indian intelligence officials found it tough to convince the US security managers that US President Obama could travel in the Indian President's limousine for arriving on the Rajpath. The two sides did not reach to a conclusion and are likely to discuss the matter again.

" Interestingly, US secret agents told the Indian intelligence agencies that the US President will be accompanied by his chefs to ensure that his food is not spiked," the police officer told M AIL T ODAY . Sources said that the officials of Indian Intelligence agencies have given a code name to President Obama -- " Dexxxxxxx" -- and they will communicate using this code name on their wireless sets.

Officials of the Indian intelligence agencies have also requested the US secret agents to use the same code name with their security agents as well.

" The Intelligence Bureau ( IB) has also appointed one of its DIGs to be part of the US President's cavalcade.

The DIG will work as a liaison officer and he has been asked not to carry any weapon or mobile phone. He will carry only a wireless set for communication with the intelligence agencies," the officer told M AIL T ODAY . Another security official said that during President Obama's visit to Myanmar in November, six aircraft of equipment, vehicles, oil tankers, helicopters and 1,600 US personnel were air dashed. Obama was in Myanmar to attend the East Asia Summit. Even the fuel used by the US President's cavalcade was brought by a US Navy ship to a port in Myanmar from where it was transported to capital Nayipyidaw by a US oil tanker with full security.

At least 10,000 paramilitary troopers will join the 80,000- strong Delhi police to ensure foolproof security in and around Rajpath where the main Republic Day parade will be held.
