OAPs urged to book up free blanket tests.
Warwickshire Trading Standards officers will carry out checks at stations in Atherstone and Coleshill next month as part of their ongoing annual campaign.
OAPs were asked several months ago to take along their electric blankets and the invitation has been renewed.
The tests, which are being held on Monday, September 6, at Atherstone Fire Station, and the following day at Coleshill, are carried out through appointments. Officers are disappointed that there are still a number of spaces still available.
Simon Cripwell, senior information officer, said: "We conducted these tests last year and it was a huge success with an overwhelming response from pensioners in north Warwick-shire.
"But this year in Atherstone and Coleshill there has been a poor response and we want people to take full advantage.''
More than 900 people are killed or injured each year in fires started by electric blankets. Three-quarters of the blankets tested last year failed.
Book at either station by telephoning organisers on 0800 413332 during office hours.
Appointments are limited so bookings will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.
