OAP's fatal fall on stairs.

A PENSIONER died after falling down the stairs.

Nancy Jillott, 80, died after a tragic fall while catching up with a friend in Dalton.

Huddersfield's coroner, Peter Straker, heard how Mrs Jillott was admitted to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on July 3 after being found fully conscious on the floor at the bottom of a staircase.

HRI doctors consulted neurosurgeons at Leeds General Infirmary who said she wasn't suitable for intervention.

She had suffered a subdural skull fracture to her skull which pathologist, Dr Richard Knights, described as a traumatic head injury.

Her condition deteriorated and Mrs Jillott died nine days later.

The coroner recorded that the retired office clerk's death was accidental.
