Nurse drunk.

A HOSPITAL nurse who got drunk drinking from a bottle in an acute stroke ward has been struck off.

Karen Raybould, 51, reeked of alcohol and had to prop herself up against a wall while on duty at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

She had been flighty at work and smelling of booze.

On the night of August 18, 2004, her colleagues were worried by her behaviour and reported her to the matron.

Yesterday after admitting she had a drinking problem she was struck off the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Panel chair Jane Jeffs said: "The conduct of the registrant is fundamentally incompatible with her continuing to practise as a nurse. "
