Number of furloughed workers drop in Taiwan as of April 15.

Taipei, April 19, 2012 (CENS) -- Some 3,433 employees were furloughed (leave without pay) by 36 enterprises in Taiwan as of April 15, according to the statistics released by the Council of Labor Affairs (CLA), adding that the number of workers had dropped by 1,249 and number of firms by three relative to the last corresponding statistics.

To help businesses better endure the sluggish business climate, the CLA has recently extended job training programs to both enterprises and employees, with some 19 enterprises and 1,485 employees having registered for the programs.

The CLA will keep offering such programs and urge higher participation, particularly by those furloughed.
