Number of fake news doubled in Kyrgyzstan.

The number of "fake" news doubled in Kyrgyzstan, Bolot Temirov, editor-in-chief of the Factchek.kg portal, said during a round table on the topic 'Distribution of fake news in Kyrgyzstan'.

He said that recently the number of fake news has doubled in the Kyrgyz Republic, possibly in connection with the upcoming elections. 'Because of fake news, real consequences are happening and this is no longer a joke,' Temirov said.

He also cited as an example several news from this category, for example, a video distributed on the network at the time of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

'During a tense situation at the border, somebody distributed an old video of the conflict. Although the video was old, it was very popular and sparked further conflict. We noticed that fake news spreads at the place of conflicts, but global fakes - at the junction of geopolitical conflicts, for example, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,' said the fact checker.
