Number's up for Cowell's revenge.

POP IDOL'S Simon Cowell got his own back on fellow judge Pete Waterman when he gave his mobile number out live on air on Saturday night.

Within minutes, fans began ringing the Coventry-born 57-year-old pop svengali, while the cameras were still rolling.

Yesterday, Pete (above) refused to answer his phone unless he recognised the caller's number, and will be given a new number today to avoid unwanted calls.

Cowell revealed the number during ITV2's Pop Idol Extra and did it because Pete revealed his address on the previous Saturday's programme.

Earlier in the show, Cowell asked the audience who wanted to go out on a date with Pete, and the audience cheered for their favourite to go out with him.

A woman called Vicky was chosen, and Cowell told the audience he had given her Pete's mobile number, before saying what it was.
