Nueva gay island.

Puerto Rico's main town of San Juan is known to have the liveliest gay scene in the Caribbean, but the most recent secret in the region is Vieques, a 21-mile-long island seven miles off the coast of mainland Puerto Rico. While the streets have no names and no traffic lights, a variety of queer-owned lodgings and businesses are cropping up. You'll find donkeys in the road between Isabel II and Esperanza, the island's two main towns, as well as some of the Caribbean's best beaches, including the gorgeous Navio and the intimate Garcia (both gay). You may even end up rubbing shoulders with visitors like Sandra Bernhard, queer designer Narciso Rodriguez, out New York City weatherman Sam Champion, or gay actor John Cameron Mitchell, who has been known to shop the aisles of the local grocery store clad in a sarong.
