Now we're cooking on gas.

BRITISH GAS'S flagship contact centre in Cardiff hasbeennamedthe best in Europe.

The 1,200-customer service team at the centre located at Callaghan Square took top prize at the European Call Centre Awards.

It beat off strong competition fromO2,Tesco,Orange and Scottish Power. It is the second year running that British Gas's flagship centre has taken the title.

Thecentrewas alsoawarded best centre towork for and best large centre. It was highly commended in the best centre for customer service category. All customer service advisers receive ongoing training to ensure that they are able to give the best service possible to customers.

Judges also noted that managers at the centre have developed initiatives and innovative services following visits to other leading customer services companies from around Europe.

LyndaCampbell, general manager, British Gas Cardiff, said: "This is a massive achievement for us and the judges said that we were streets ahead of the competition.

"We were up against some very prestigious companies and winning against such competitors twice has firmly established us as the leader in European customer service.

"I am very proud of the team in Cardiff and we could not have won without their hard work and commitment."

Nick Christou, team manager at the centre, said: "The team are completely elated, particularly after winning for the second year in a row.

"You hear every day how our customers are seeing and feeling a big difference when they talk to the team, and it's a fantastic feeling.

"We're so proud to work for British Gas, and will strive to get even better."
