Now Available: Iron Ore Mining in Brazil to 2020.

[USPRwire, Sun Dec 06 2015] Brazil ranked second after Australia with 31 billion tonnes (Bnt) of iron ore reserves as of January 2015, accounting for 16.3% of global reserves. The country holds high-grade reserves in the state of Para, with most of the country's operational mines located in Minas Gerais.

* In terms of iron ore production, Brazil ranked third globally after China and Australia, accounting for 411 million tonnes (Mt) or 20.2% of global iron ore production in 2014.

* According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the country's iron ore production accounted for US$25.9 billion or 60.2% of Brazil's total mineral production in 2014.

* The Brazilian iron ore industry is dominated by Vale SA, the world's largest producer, with 319.2Mt of iron ore in 2014. The mining industry is governed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Brazil Geological Survey (CPRM).
