TELECOMWORLDWIRE-10 February 2000-Novell introduces web-based service for finding of directory information (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Novell Inc has introduced Novell eGuide, its new web-based software application service designed to facilitate access to select directory information within companies as well as between companies, their customers and suppliers.

The service enables users to access data stored in NDS eDirectory and any data source that supports the lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) standard, including, when authorised, the Internet and enterprise directories of customers and suppliers. Users can look for names, phone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses and network IDs and once a person is located, users can launch communications, such as e-mail or instant messaging from within an interface that runs on any web browser.

Novell eGuide is written in Java and is expected to ship within the next two weeks. Pricing will be revealed at the time of shipping.
