Nottingham: Sub Ryan leads Bella Chica to debut win.

Byline: Tom O'Ryan

WilliE RYAN profited from the temporary absence of Pat Eddery as Bella Chica made an impressive debut success in the five-furlong novice stakes, writes Tom O'Ryan.

On the day he was called upon to deputise for Kieren Fallon on Derby favourite Golan, Eddery was delayed because of a problem with his plane. Ryan, a last-minute replacement for the Jeremy Glover-trained filly, promptly enjoyed an armchair ride as Bella Chica carried him to a smooth four-length victory over Lady Ansell.

Glover has not dismissed a trip to Royal Ascot for the winner, adding: "She's pretty good. I thought she would win, but she's a delicate filly and I want to see how she comes out of this race."
