Notion Ink releases 'I'm Shakti' Android app for women's safety.

India, Sept. 17 -- Notion Ink has launched I'm Shakti a new Android app aimed at women's safety. The app is available for free on he Google play store and can be used by women, kids or anyone in an emergency situation.

Users can download the app on their android device and press the power button quickly five times within two seconds to send the emergency SMS. Alternatively, users can also open the app and click on the button that says 'Send emergency SMS' in an emergency situation to their listed contacts. The app finds the users location via GPS, Wi-Fi and cell towers. If it is unable to do so, it will send the emergency SMS and will continue to look for the location which it will send in a second SMS later on.

Rohan Shravan, founder and chief executive officer of Notion Ink told Business Standard stated at the launch, "All one has to do is set some emergency contacts and your phone will send them an emergency SMS with a preset message. If your phone can find your approximate location, it will be included as part of the emergency SMS."

The issue for women safety has gained public attention and recently a lot of women safety apps have been launched. India's first managed security company, SMART 24X7, recently launched 'Panic' Button, an Android operating system for smartphones. The app allows you to send multiple videos, images, messages and current location to your emergency contact list with just a press of a button. Other safety apps available for smartphones are Fight Back by Whypoll, Street Safe and The Eye watch app by Indianeye Security Pvt. Ltd.
