.St Julie's Catholic High School in Woolton marked the launch of its new mission statement with a day of fun filled celebrations, including singing, drama, dancing and a huge balloon race.

It marked the end of a detailed consultation exercise and following assemblies the students were entertained by singing and dancing performances alongside the Juice FM Road Show.

The day culminated in a synchronised release of 1,500 red balloons.

Pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic College in Crosby have every right to blow their own trumpets after they raised nearly pounds 700 for charity. The college orchestra and choir held a concert at St Nicholas Church, Blundellsands, and raised the money for theWaterloo Partnership. The singers and musicians then headed off to Paris for a series of concerts.

.Professor George Talbot has been appointed Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Ormskirk''s Edge Hill University.

An expert on modern Italy, he has joined from the University of Hull.
