Noted Linux Industry Analyst Stacey Quandt Joins OSDL; Giga and Forrester Research Veteran Joins OSDL in New Position as Principal Analyst to Lead Lab Initiatives Monitoring Linux Market for IT Vendors and Corporate End Users.

BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a global consortium of leading technology companies dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Linux, today named Stacey Quandt to a new Lab position as Principal Analyst.

Quandt, a veteran industry analyst noted for her open source expertise and early recognition of the importance of Linux as a disruptive technology in the computing landscape, will become the Lab's Principal Analyst. In this new role, Quandt is responsible for monitoring key market trends important to IT vendors and corporate end users of Linux. She will also be a principal speaker for the Lab at industry conferences and tradeshows and play a leadership role in developing Lab market research, technical publications and industry opinion pieces.

"Stacey is one of the most respected analysts in the Linux industry," said Stuart Cohen, CEO of OSDL. "She brings technical expertise, broad industry contacts and a wealth of knowledge about Linux to this critical new role at the Lab in helping us communicate with IT vendors, Linux developers and corporate customers."

Quandt, most recently an industry analyst at the Forrester Group, started her research career at the Giga Information Group where she created the firm's Open Source Research Competency program. There she advised Fortune 1000 customers with tactical and strategic advice on Linux and published scores of research papers. A popular speaker at industry conferences and events, she has presented at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, Oracle OpenWorld, the National and Local eGovernment Programs, GigaWorld IT Forum, Sun Microsystem's ISV Advisory Board, and many others.

"This is an exciting time in the Linux industry and I look forward to helping OSDL in communicating the value of this disruptive technology as it is embraced by more and more organizations," Quandt said. "As the center of gravity for Linux, OSDL is in a unique position to offer a vendor-neutral voice that speaks on behalf of powerful industry stakeholders as well as developers and end user customers."
