Not such a great record; Yousay IN YOUR OPINION...

I REFER to the article "Rodney rests on his record" (April 13), showing Rodney Berman grinning like a Cheshire cat while the Lib Dems with cheesy smiles launch their election manifesto.

As a regular Echo reader, I know only too well of their dismal failures frequently highlighted in letters to You Say.

The Lib Dem leader said to judge him on what he had achieved, not what he said and "We're not just about making promises to try to win votes, we're about actual delivery."

He said the group had a very good record and that lots of services had improved. He also made much of blaming other political parties and the usual promise of better things to come.

Well let's just scratch beneath the surface to reveal their real record.

I refer readers to their disgraceful battle, which forced residents to waste thousands of pounds of their own money fighting his council's plans to build a school on their park - Rumney Recreation Ground (which in a referendum 93% were opposed to), during which he wasted pounds 500,000 of council tax money.

There have probably been more action groups set up in opposition to his council's policies than during the entire history of Cardiff!

Then there is the traffic chaos this administration has created throughout Cardiff.

In his grand plans he has also forgotten to include public toilets, which have been the subject of much protest by elderly people.

I can assure Mr Berman that he would soon wipe that smile off his face if he were an elderly or disabled person looking for a bus - or a public toilet in a hurry.
