Not drunken punters; LETTER FROM THE PAST.
Now we will have at least one facility that the 20,000-plus living on Castle Vale can appreciate.
That is if the council keeps its promise.
The reason I say that is because of their granting of planning permission for a seventh public house and a second betting office to be built on the estate.
On one square mile this is ludicrous to say the least.
What do the council think the residents of Castle Vale are? Drunkards and gamblers? The residents, especially the senior citizens, have incessantly called for a post office and dispensing chemist to be built at the end of the estate opposite the shopping centre.
Most of the older folk, incidentally, do not live within convenient reach of this centre.
My plea is: Stop being so tight-fisted if you are interested in helping the community.
