Not alone in decision; You Say Email:firstname.lastname@example.org.
REGARDING the recent death of Cllr Carole Gustafson, the ex-chair of the Merseyside Police Authority who appointed Norman Bettison as chief of Merseyside Police against strong local opposition.
Hearing comments made in regard to the late Cllr Gustafson I feel people need to bear in mind she did not make the decision to appoint him alone.
The authority, when it existed was made up of a chief and deputy executive and a panel made up of local councillors and JPs who would have had a substantial say on his being given the office of Chief Constable.
It is true to say that under Cllr Gustafson's chairship of the authority, there was a general feeling that the public's and officers' concerns were not listened to but that was the same with the previous chairs, way way back to the days of the Home Watch Committees..
ALOT has beensaid alleged vandalising of the painted Strawberry yellow paint.
I think the perpetrator was, a genuine Beatles fan, simply a feeble attempt at depicting a yellow submarine.
byKOJones, Now with the introduction of the office of Police and Crime Commissioner to replace the Police Authorities, will things be better? Only time will tell but as for the crime panel that watches our PCC, Jane Kennedy, it does include Cllr Bill Weightman and the man who championed her standing, Mayor Joe Anderson.
Somehow, I predict time will show we are no better off when it comes to being listened to.
