Bonello, Giovanni.

Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti

224 pages

Salvatore Cassar recorded the scenes, lives and events of Malta from the 1890s to his death in 1928. Trained in Tripoli, evidently, he made his living photographing portraits but also provided postcard views of the main sights of the region. He also recorded events such as the visits of the Prince of Wales and duke of York, religious processions and sports teams. Bonello has collected and arranged well over a hundred of these photographs by subject. This lovely retrospective would be of interest to photography aficionados and those who want to know more about Malta at the turn of the Twentieth Century. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co. Landscape format 10x8".
