Norwegian authorities assess fine against Tele2 over pornography.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-6 April 2001-Norwegian authorities assess fine against Tele2 over pornography (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Norwegian authorities have reportedly assessed a USD38,000 fine against an Internet provider whose customers put banned pornography on its server.

Erling O. Lyngtveidt, a lawyer for the privately-owned telecommunications operator Tele2, said that the company would challenge the fine in court as a test of an Internet provider's legal responsibility.

The case asks whether a technical provider can be held responsible for what customers from all over the world put on its news server, said Lyngtveidt.
